So many great shapes out there in the Marketplace universe — I’m inspired! And only a few are mid-century (why is everything on Marketplace mid-century?). I will warn you: some of the stuff isn’t cheap! But why save for a future on a planet that might exist when instead you can just buy stuff that brings you joy right now?
Shapes of Interest
Boucle Bench ($140, pick-up in Arlington)
I love this bench. It’s cute. It’s cozy. It’s got end-of-bed vibes. Or would work as a dining bench. Actually, now that I mention it, this would match my dining set up pretty perfectly…
Sculptural Rattan Chair ($40, pick-up in Arlington)
Serving shape for days. Not sure it’s all that comfortable to sit in, but it sure as hell looks cute.
Vintage Green Nightstands ($250 for the pair, pick-up in DC or avail for delivery)
Beautifully refinished, and the color is ~chef’s kiss~. As a bedroom accent in a neutral room, these nightstands would really pop. I also love, you guessed it, the shape.
Mid-Century Side Tables ($225 for the paid, pick-up in Takoma Park)
What cool shapes! I love these stacked together — such a unique silhouette. You could also split them up and they’re still cool. Plus that medium-brown color is really nice.
Marble + Brass Console Table ($700, pick-up in DC)
Normally I’d avoid sharing something this expensive, but it’s really just too pretty to ignore. Not just the inlay work (which is stunning), but the shape of the piece, too. And given the original retail price, it’s not that bad? Maybe?
Brushed Brass Coffee Table ($400, pick-up in Alexandria)
You know what I’m going to say: another good shape! Love this style of coffee table if you’ve got the room for it. Both modern and vintage feeling. Imagine styling it with some books and little decorative objects — call me, I’ll help.
More Ways to Spend
Gold Velvet Folding Chair Set ($195 for the set of 4, pick-up in Silver Spring): If you need folding chairs, make them velvet!
Vintage Green Desk Lamp ($55, pick-up in Alexandria): She’s a real cutie.
Antique Leather Ottoman ($60, pick-up in DC): Worn perfectly at no extra charge.
Brass Shapely Lamp ($100, pick-up in DC): Originally $600! From Burke!
Black Painted Ceramic Garden Stool ($100, pick-up in DC): I love these for a garden but they also make great side tables for small spaces.
That’s it from me! Until next time…
The brushed brass and marble table makes me want to re-think my priorities (how many ubereats make up that price??? it's just a few avocadotoasts if you think about it).......
And the side tables in TKPK--I heart and yet I keep picturing myself placing my laptop and/or (more like and) drink on the non-level one :-D
For serious I may need to get the $40 rattan situation for our apartment to add a relaxed-Black-Panthers vibe.
Thank you, Pillow Talk! Brilliant and life-giving as always!
